The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index advanced 0.2%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index shed 0.4%.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.1% to $57.54 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent crude contract increased 0.4% to $61.27 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures climbed 1.9% to $2.99 per 1 million BTU.

In corporate news, Exxon Mobil (XOM) sold 4 million barrels of Guyanese crude oil to two Indian refiners, Reuters reported. Indian Oil bought 2 million of Golden Arrowhead crude, and Hindustan Petroleum acquired 2 million of Liza and Unity Gold crude, the report said. Exxon shares added 1.6%.
