Gas for June delivery was last seen up US$0.09 to US$3.34 per million British thermal units.
Prices fell 3.6% on Thursday after the Energy Information Administration reported inventories of the fuel rose by 120-billion cubic feet last week, leaving stocks 3.9% above the average for the week.
The "report was massive at +120 Bcf, decently larger than the 5-year average of +87 Bcf. One of the reasons for the impressively large build was due to solar energy generation reaching record highs last week, and by quite a bit", NatGasWeather noted.
Long-term forecasts from the National Weather Service see most states with seasonal or warmer weather over the eight to 14 day outlook, though the Southeast and lower Midwest will see cooler than normal temperatures.
