A Paris judge is expected to review the proposed settlement with prosecutors from the Parquet National Financier at a court hearing in the coming weeks, the unnamed sources told the news outlet.

"Cum-Cum" trades involve foreign investors temporarily transferring shares in French firms to local tax-exempt entities around dividend payment dates to lower or avoid withholding tax, Reuters reported.

HSBC didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

The company's shares were up 2.7% in recent premarket activity.
