A majority of HNI shareholders backed issuing common stock to Steelcase investors under the deal, while Steelcase shareholders voted in favor of the acquisition.

The companies said Friday the transaction is expected to close Wednesday.

In early August, HNI agreed to buy Steelcase (SCS) for $2.2 billion in cash and stock.
